KARIBA FERRY DEATH TOLL RISES TO 93
A Haunting August Parallel Continues
By The Great GoneX
The death toll from the Lake Kariba ferry disaster has risen to 93 following the discovery of another body floating near Long Island.
According to TheNewsHawks, the body is currently in the custody of a Kapenta fishing rig crew, while a sub-aqua team is on its way to retrieve it.
With 93 confirmed dead and 77 survivors, the known number of people who were aboard the ill-fated vessel now stands at 170.
The latest death toll means the Kariba tragedy has now surpassed the 89 lives lost in the Nyanga Bus Disaster of August 1991 — by four fatalities.
35 years later, another August tragedy has overtaken one of Zimbabwe's darkest transport disasters.
And tragically, the search continues, with more bodies suspected to be in the lake.
